Portfolio Drive 2010

Alright here's the deal:

My portfolio is lacking, and it's completely my fault. Here's what I propose to do:

From now on until I graduate I will be making schedules and forcing myself to do things that contribute to my portfolio.

I'm starting a D&D session this week, so for my first project, I will be going to 3d model my character.

He's a Samurai / Fighter, that's going to prestige into Ronin. I'll throw up a more detailed character description and back story, but I just had to put this up here as a first step towards not procrastinating and actually being productive.

My goal for this project is to fully 3d model, layout UV's and normal mapping, and having an actual backdrop. I'm looking for more of just an art piece rather than a game model or animation model.

Programs I will be using are : 3ds Max 2010, Photoshop CS3.

I started this project today, and so far I've gotten reference pictures of different samurai armor, a handful of katanas, and some really nice Naginatas. I'm also looking at some Greek and Roman style armor, as well as more traditional fantasy armor because I'm not just going to do a straight up samurai, but a more stylized/ fantasy setting warrior.

Anyways, here goes...

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, so I can't show you all what I've sketched out, but I have sketched him up already and am ready to start the modelling process.
